Although she never went home with "American Idol" name, Kellie Pickler was one of the show's best alumni. Kellie Pickler was born on June 28, 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler at Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. Her mother was only 16 when she was pregnant with her. Pickler's childhood was difficult because her father was addicted to alcohol and drugs even though her mother had divorced from her in the age of just two. Morton returned to her control for a few years. However, Pickler confessed that she was not going well. "I remember that my mother and I were in the kitchen and I said, 'I wish God would take me away as I'd prefer to have my body taken away than to live alongside you.' The woman pulled out a knife put it on the countertop, and told me, "Here, you do it." I was in the fourth grade. It's a shame I didn't make a decision based on that. It left an emotional mark that will last forever. Pickler ended up being given to her grandparents by the court when she was 12. Morton failed to appear at the hearing. Pickler has cited her grandparents as one of her main sources of inspiration throughout her entire life, was raised by the grandparents. Faye Pickler, the grandmother who cared for her, passed away from lung cancer in 2001. He continued to take care of Pickler. Pickler is a graduate of North Stanly High School, located in New London (North Carolina).
