Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works with NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. She traveled along with Ronald Reagan several times to summits and debate issues like that of the Iran Contra controversy.
