Mary Eileen McDonnell was born on April 28, 1952, was an American stage actress and film actor. McDonnell was honored with the Academy Award nod for the role she was in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Apart from this character McDonnell has a cult following for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) who is the wife of the president on Independence Day as well as her role as the lead in Donnie Doom as his mother.
